Episode 5 - Fight Club

Download as mp3

Happy Boxing Day to those of you who celebrate it!  Somehow premiering this today feels fitting.

The song heard at the beginning and end of the episode is "Hunger is Freedom" by Jak Locke, which was used with permission.  I chose it because its theme matches Fight Club perfectly.  You can hear the entire song at the Bandcamp site, and if you like it, throw him a buck for the download, will ya?

You can find the book version of Fight Club out there in paperback, e-reader, and audio book editions.  Though sadly the audio book is not read by Edward Norton.  How awesome would that be?  The movie is also available on DVD and Blu Ray.  You really need to own the special edition to see all the fun marketing materials I mention in the episode.

Men in Black 3 Trailer

The official trailer for Men in Black 3 (which hits theaters May 25, 2012) went out over the weekend, and we both took a look at it.

Angie: It's hard for me to make a judgement call this early.  The time travel aspect has the possibility to make the storyline a little convoluted, but it all depends on the execution.  Not a whole lot of jokes there, but that could just be their choice in editing.

Bethany: I don't like it when trailers spill all the good jokes of the movie, so I'm glad it's kind of joke-light. I do pretty much watch MiB for Tommy Lee Jones, and it looks like part of the movie is gonna be The Hunt for Kay, and I'm not sure how I feel about that. Josh Brolin does look terrifyingly like Tommy Lee Jones, and there is also Emma Thompson in the plus category.

Summary: We'll see.

Leave us a comment and tell us what you think of the trailer.

Episode 4 - Red State

Download as an mp3

Red State is available for purchase on DVD and Blu Ray, and also available to rent through most On Demand services, so you should be able to watch it in whatever way you prefer.

This is a link to the Q&A where Kevin Smith discusses the original planned ending to the film.

If you haven't seen Rob Zombie's Halloween, I Hate/Love Remakes' episode can tell you all you need to know.

Maureen Johnson is NaNo's official Agony Aunt this year, and she's answering a question a day (sometimes more) on her tumblr this month. It's worth scrolling back to read, she gives some great advice. While you're at it, visit her blog and search for NaNo, it'll bring up the recent stuff and the posts she's made in years past. The Made of Fail episode where you can hear Angie talk about the new DC comics (mostly Batman related) is right here. Thanks again, guys!

He puts the hat on her and you're like "How does that ridiculous hat work on Hugh Jackman?"

Episode 2 - Twist Ending Movies

Download as an mp3

As you would probably expect from the episode's theme, this podcast contains spoilers for The Usual Suspects, Seven, Fallen, The Mist, The Wicker Man, Soylent Green, Planet of the Apes, Psycho and The Others. Though I'd take a bet you probably already know how at least half of those end.

I just happened to see this article today: Apparently Brad Pitt made sure they didn't change Seven's ending.

Others we didn't have time to discuss but still recommend are: Donnie Darko, Identity, Memento, The Prestige, and The Orphanage.

Episode 1 - M. Night Shyamalan movies

Download as an mp3

While it probably goes without saying, this episode contains spoilers for The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village, and The Happening. We also discuss the endings of Predators and Inception briefly.

But according to this article, you don't care about being spoiled.

Stay tuned for our next episode, where we'll discuss more movies with twist endings!

This episode is a bit shorter than the last, and I also managed to get the file size much smaller. You may still hear a bit of an echo on this recording. I think I have found a fix that we'll be able to employ in our next episode to prevent that going forward.
